2021 Yard Sign for Seniors

Yard Signs are now available for purchase in the WHS front office during the week.  You can stop by during normal office hours to get one.  Remember to bring $10.00 cash or a check made out to the WHS PTSA.

You will also be able to purchase a yard sign before the Senior Parade on Saturday, May 22nd at Heritage Farm Park.

For students that were given yard signs in good faith, please don’t forget payment is needed.  All profits received from this fundraiser go directly into the PTSA Senior scholarship fund.  We sincerely thank you for your support!!  Please contact Kimberly Snyder at WHSLionsPTSA@gmail.com with any questions.

Nominations for 2021-2022 PTSA Officers

The nominating committee is pleased to announce the following candidates for officers of the 2021-2022 Walkersville High School PTSA:

President - Giuseppa Ball

Vice President – Open

Treasurer – Kelley Wells

Secretary – Justine Buschman

Thus far we have not been able to identify anyone interested in running for Vice President.  If no one steps forward to run for that position, then next year’s PTSA executive committee will only consist of a President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  If you would like to nominate someone for Vice President or if you would like to run for the position, please contact any member of the nominating committee:  Leslie Bertolette (lesliebertolette@verizon.net), Jacy Hillman (jacymarc@verizon.net), or John Van Bloem (john.vanbloem@fcps.org).

The PTSA will be electing next year’s officers at the May 18th general membership meeting, which will be held via Zoom.  Additional nominations may be made right up until the elections are held, so anyone wishing to run for any of the officer positions may still do so.  A nominee must either currently be a member of the PTSA, or otherwise join the PTSA prior to the elections.

PTSA MEETING ~ May 18th

You are invited to attend, via ZOOM, our last PTSA general membership meeting of the school year.  It is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18th 7:00pm.  If you would like to join in, please send an email to WHSLionsPTSA@gmail.com by Monday, May 17th, so that the meeting link can be sent to you.

At this meeting we will be holding elections for the 2021-2022 school year (see nominating committee announcement).  We will also be and voting on PTSA Senior Scholarship applicant award amounts and summer spending.  Officers and Committee Chairs will be giving a “verbal” summary of the past year.

It would be wonderful if you could join us for our last general membership meeting of the year.    Please contact Kimberly Snyder, PTSA President at WHSLionsPTSA@gmail.com with any questions.

ATTENTION SENIORS

Senior Parade 2021

To kick off their last week of school, a community sponsored parade to honor the Walkersville High School Class of 2021 will be held on Saturday, May 22nd!  Seniors will line up at Heritage Farm Park tentatively starting around 5:30/6:00 PM.  The parade will wind through Walkersville to the Walkersville Fire Company Carnival Grounds.  Once on the Carnival Grounds, the Seniors and their families will be treated to a Fireworks display around 9:00/9:15 PM

Seniors who wish to participate must register for the event by emailing your name to the parade committee by 5/21 to 2021SeniorParade@gmail.com. Please note one Senior per vehicle (unless related).  However, IF some Seniors, who are friends, would like to ride together – those Seniors’ families must also be in the same vehicle (please inform us of this when you register).  To stay in compliance with current mandates, only Seniors and their families will be allowed onto the carnival grounds.  Only those who are in the parade will be allowed onto the carnival grounds.  Please note some of the fireworks display will not be visible outside of the carnival grounds so please plan on being with your Senior.

Detailed information will be sent to those who have registered for the event via the email they used to register.

If a Senior does not have access to a vehicle, please let us know when registering.  We have volunteers who have offered to drive any Senior that needs transportation.

Rain date for the event is tentatively scheduled for: Sunday, May 23rd

Please encourage anyone in the Walkersville community to please come out along the parade route to celebrate the Class of 2021!!!
